Another Light 2005

These works are part of a one-man show at the Glynn Vivian Museum in Swansea, shown between December 2005 and February 2006. The exhibition consists of three installations where the transforming power of light is used to change our perception of the small everyday objects that are often overlooked.

In Red Shift, 100 table tennis balls are lit with laser beams to create a floating raft of glowing globes while the quality of the laser light causes an interference pattern that causes the eye focus beyond the object. Pinpoint I & II employ 16,500 coloured drawing pins in each image to create the illusion of a digitised projection, embedded in the wall and illuminated by a blank rectangle of light. In Crop, hundreds of plastic cocktail stirrers pierce a false floor which conceals a network of low energy lights. The plastic rods glow as they transmit the light from below. A full catalogue of the exhibition is available from The Glynn Vivian Museum or the artist.
